FIERCE FOLK

Join us for an evening of folk dance from around the world, brought to life with a fierce female perspective.

WHAT is it?

Start your evening with a drink by the fire in the courtyard and a performance from the brilliant all-female Boss Morris, known for their playful, punk-inspired take on English morris dancing.

Followed by a vibrant performance from Gloucester’s own Bharatanatyam dancers from NAPA Indian Performing Arts.

We’ll finish the night with Kizlar by Ceyda Tanc Dance – a bold, modern take on traditional Turkish folk dance with a powerful feminist twist.

Expect folk, fire and fierce femininity.

Kizlar // Ceyda tanc dance

‘Who runs the world? Girls.’

KIZLAR is a celebration of what it means to be female. Combining Turkish folk dance with stunning athletic movement, this captivating show presents different images of femininity, from the tender to the powerful.

Flipping traditionally male Turkish folk dances with an all-female company, KIZLAR brings a strong yet sensual energy to the stage.

This highly visual spectacle is accompanied by a powerful, rhythmic soundtrack blending Eastern sounds with modern beats.

‘KIZLAR is a defiant display of feminism with powerful movements, interspersed with tenderness as the dancers embrace’ – Brighton and Hove News
