This is our first, short term response to an evolving situation where we – collectively and individually – are navigating immense change. This will not be our only response. Our overriding aim is to listen and see what is possible at a time when a lot is impossible. We are testing this approach to understand if it’s useful. We hope it will be the right response for some, but recognise it may not be for everyone. Either way, let us know.
CALLOUT: ARTISTS/MAKERS NEEDED
Create Gloucestershire is co-ordinating resources to support Gloucestershire and South West based artists/makers who have ideas to create work in any art form that responds to and connects individuals, sectors and communities in this time of crisis.
This call out is in partnership with Strike A Light who have invested funding alongside ours. We hope in the coming days to add other partners and resources into our collective pot and will therefore be updating this opportunity on a regular basis.
We have re-channelled some of our resources into a new programme of grants for artists & makers to develop creative ideas that can be “home delivered” to people who are self-isolating. We want to encourage physical distancing AND social solidarity; window sill art galleries, digital shed music, letterbox puppet shows, garden dance.
Our goal is to test ideas in Gloucestershire that, if successful, could be replicated in towns and villages across the South West.
We are looking for ideas that:
• can comfort, connect, entertain and inspire
• are of high artistic quality
• respond to the breadth and diversity of individuals, sectors and communities in the region
• are safe and can be delivered in line with current government guidelines as they emerge and evolve
If you have a proposal we would like to hear from you as soon as possible. We have grants from £200 to £1500 available. While this is a limited pot at the moment we are doing our best to grow it.
Please submit 2 sides of A4 detailing:
• your idea and approach to the project
• where it will take place
• how it will be delivered
• more about you and your experience
• and in addition, please attach an outline budget
We will also accept filmed proposals. These should address the information above and be no longer than 4 mins.
Artists/makers should be able to actively begin their proposal straight away although we understand this may be affected by your health and/or the health of those around you.
Closing dates for proposals
Closing date 1: 12 noon 3rd April 2020
Closing date 2: 12 noon 17th April 2020
