About this Event

This is an online guided course to get you started writing funding bids; packed full of practical, relevant ideas and activities to put it all in to action. Delivery will be friendly and hands-on, providing lots of opportunities for discussion and questions as well as activities to apply the information provided. The course will cover local Gloucestershire based funders as well as national funder opportunities.

The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly changed the current funding landscape. We will provide a short update of changes and what this might mean for future fundraising. The workshop focuses on the key aspects of writing a bid and pitching your project so you can use this time to develop your skills to strengthen your future fundraising and also to apply for the current commissions and emergency funding pots that have become available, where relevant.

The course will consist of 3 short session run on 2 consecutive Thursdays via the online platform Zoom:

  • Thursday 14th May 10-11.30am webinar
  • Thursday 21st May 
    • Part 1 – 10.00 – 11.00am webinar
    • Part 2 – 10.00am – 11.15am offline, independent research
    • Part 3 – 11.45am – 1.00pm webinar

We will cover:

  • Who are funders and what are they looking for?
  • Jargon busting
  • Planning your bid
  • Pitching your project
  • Budgeting for your bid
  • Working with partners
  • Showing what your project will do
  • Increasing your chances of success
  • Next steps and getting started on your bid

Ideal for those: running creative groups or activities you want to secure funding for, interested in an arts career, artists producing their own work, students, or if you have just taken on a fundraising role.

Background to the project

This project is supported by Tewkesbury Creatives, part of Create Gloucestershire; a county wide network working to make art every day for everyone. Tewkesbury Creatives is a new network for people in the town and surrounding areas interested in making the area a more creative place to live, work and play.

Costs

This course is subsided by Create Gloucestershire to make it accessible to as many people who could benefit as possible. The cost to particpate is £12. However, if this cost is a barrier please contact Caroline@creategloucestershire to explore bursary options.
