🗓 August-November 2020
What happens when you team up a group of local residents with a pair of incredible artists (one from Gloucester, one touring)? That’s what ‘Gloucester presents…’ will find out!
We put a community producer and two brilliant artists in a room together, with some money and some time, and asked them to dream up some creative events or activities that local residents would love.
Who’s involved?

Community producers: Dawn and Caroline
Dawn and Caroline have worked in their community for a combined total of 44 years. They co-manage The Venture: White City – a community-based adventure playground that supports local children and families. The Venture has a culture of community engagement and active participation from people of all ages.

Gloucester artist: Lucy Wilcox
Lucy is a fantastic choir leader based in Gloucester.

Touring artist: Conrad Murray
Conrad is an actor, writer, director, rapper, beatboxer, singer and theatre-maker, who has led the BAC Beatbox Academy since 2008 and made a host of five-star shows. Conrad has a long history with Gloucester: he was instrumental in setting up Beats in GL4; his shows Denmarked and High Rise eState of Mind have come to Matson, and Frankenstein raised the roof at the Rooftop Festival.
What’s happening?
Fresh from the BBC’s adaptation of his smash show ‘Frankenstein’, beatboxer and Conrad Murray has teamed up with local legends Dawn and Caroline from the Venture and choir leader Lucy Wilcox to run singing and songwriting workshops in White City.
To wrap up the process, they’re producing an original song – which they’ll perform, record and share online. Watch this space!!
Where’s it happening?
There are community meetings and recording sessions planned to take place at The Venture, White City.
