General Manager

We’re looking for someone to join our team to ensure the smooth running of our financial, HR and administrative systems.

Strike A Light are looking for someone to join us as General Manager, one day a week. If you’re enthusiastic about beautifully organised admin, like being the go-to person in a small team and enjoy setting up systems to get stuff done, we’d love to hear from you. 

About you

You might not have worked in the arts before but may have worked in a similar role in a small business, a charity or voluntary organisation. We’re looking for people who:

  • Have a solid understanding of finance, HR and admin processes for smaller scale organisations
  • Are excited by Strike A Light’s work and want to help make it happen
  • Are keen to be part of a small team where you can shape and set up working processes 
  • Can use their initiative, put in ideas and manage their own workload

Salary and contract

The role is offered on a 1 day a week basis, £27,000 pro rata (0.2 FTE). We’re happy to discuss flexible working arrangements e.g. whether this work is carried out on the same day each week or split over 2-3 days to fit around other commitments. The majority of the Strike A Light team work Tuesday-Thursday and so working time on at least one of these days would be ideal. 

Remote working is definitely possible- the Strike A Light team works mostly from home- but some time with the staff team and in the office would be useful, for example joining away days or planning meetings, and can be mutually agreed.

This is a new post so the role is offered on a one year contract initially and then will be reviewed with the post-holder as the organisation develops to ensure it’s still the right structure, number of days etc.

Working at Strike A Light

The general manager will be reporting to and supported by the Executive Director, Christina, as well as working with the wider team. We’ve been lucky to have Emma working with us over the last 6 months offering general management support, setting up systems and helping define this role. Emma will also be offering several days of handover for the new person in post.
