What to expect

“One of the biggest new music talents in Britain” โ€“ Vogue

Soumik Datta is a multi-faceted creative combining traditional Indian instrumentals with pertinent spoken word.

A musician, producer and television presenter, Datta has worked with the likes of Beyoncรฉ, Jay-Z, Anoushka Shankar, Bill Bailey and Nitin Sawhney.

Dattaโ€™s work is intertwined with activism and his latest project is no different. His new production โ€˜Hope Notesโ€™ focuses on sharing refugeesโ€™ stories and combines the audio from these personal accounts with electronic sarod, a 19-stringed Indian instrument, string arrangements and animation.

Practical details

The show lasts about an hour.

We want anyone to be able to come along โ€“ so weโ€™ve made the tickets pay what you choose.

A performance like this would often cost ยฃ15-ยฃ20. But we donโ€™t want people to miss out because of price.

If you canโ€™t afford anything at all, weโ€™d love you to come along for free. If you can comfortably pay more than the suggested price, please consider doing so โ€“ generosity is good for everyone. Whatever your situation, we want you to be welcome. There are no favourites at our events: youโ€™re all family to us ๐Ÿ’–
