What to expect

The year they were born scientists confirmed a skeleton buried under a car park in Leicester was the English king Richard III.

Since then it’s been an eventful nine years;

Brexit, Minecraft, a climate change emergency, Donald Trump, COVID-19.

But what do they remember and what was actually important to them?

So what does the future look like to these young people? How will they look in the future? Will the world last? Will we ever return to the ‘old normal’? Do they think there will ever be a female pope? Will we eventually all start falling in love with robots?

When they turn 18 the year will be 2031. What will the world be like by then?

This new project from Bootworks Theatre Company will comprise of workshops with children from Robinswood Primary School in Matson who will then perform on the Saturday evening.

Practical details

  • The show lasts between 45 & 55 minutes
  • Doors will open approximately 30 minutes before the show starts

    We want anyone to be able to come along – so we’ve made the tickets pay what you choose.

A performance like this would often cost £7-£12. But we don’t want people to miss out because of price.

If you can’t afford anything at all, we’d love you to come along for free. If you can comfortably pay more than the suggested price, please consider doing so – generosity is good for everyone. Whatever your situation, we want you to be welcome. There are no favourites at our events: you’re all family to us 💖

Directed by James Peachey-Baker, with Rob Daniels and Andy Roberts

Devised and written by Bootworks, with different groups of children

Every time the show takes place, it’s performed by new children. It is therefore slightly different each night; using the experiences, opinions, thoughts and stories of the new performers to make the show anew.
