The gist

We’re looking for a Technical Manager to join the Strike A Light team. You’ll take the lead on all technical and production aspects of our year round programme of events in Gloucester.

  • 20 days per year (Hybrid – remote & Gloucester)
  • £350 per day
  • Additional fees available for in-person technical work (at an average of 12 – 15 day-long technical shifts at £250 per day

THE BRIEF

The Technical Manager will play a key role in bringing Strike A Light’s year round programme of events to life. You’ll be responsible for the technical planning and smooth delivery of all our events – from managing production schedules and equipment hires to ensuring our venues are safe and accessible. Working closely with the Senior Producer, you’ll support artists and our community producers to realise their creative visions and troubleshoot challenges on the ground. It’s a hands-on role for someone who loves live events and wants to help us deliver banging experiences for the people of Gloucester.

About you

  • You’ll be someone who loves live events and has experience working across theatre, dance, music, or festivals.
  • You have solid technical knowledge and a good understanding of theatre production, with the confidence to lead on the practical side of events.
  • You’re practical, calm under pressure, and great at finding solutions when things get busy.
  • You’re confident managing budgets and logistics, comfortable working independently, and happy to muck in as part of a small, supportive team.
  • You’re approachable and enjoy working with a wide range of people — from artists and community members to venues and partners.
  • You enjoy working on projects with communities, and you’re passionate about the work Strike A Light does in Gloucester.

THE INTERVIEW

If you are shortlisted for interview, we will contact you via email by Thursday 13 November If you are not shortlisted we will let you know by email that week. 

Where possible, interviews will happen in person, in our office in Gloucester. The interview questions will be provided in advance. We may also give a short unseen task if we decide it is important to the process – we will inform you of this before this interview.  Reasonable travel expenses will be covered.
