TwoCan Theatre Company and Strike A Light are hosting an exclusive sharing of new work in progress by Artists in Residence Karis Crimson and Nathalie Codsi.
Over the past five months, Gloucestershire based artists, Karis and Nathalie have been part of TwoCan’s very first Artist in Residence Programme. During this time they have had the opportunity to develop an exciting new piece, with the support of Strike A Light and Gloucester Guildhall.
This intimate sharing offers a unique opportunity to experience the early stages of their work and gain insight into their creative process.
THE ARTIST’S AND THEIR WORK
The Mourning House by Karis Crimson
Nerathe (Marrow (Laura Ashcroft) builds what cannot truly be spoken. Each structure she designs becomes a vessel for grief and the foundations laid with the weight of mothers and daughters who came before her. As she shapes space, she confronts the quiet architecture of her own lineage: the ways love, duty, and silence are passed down, stone by stone, woman to woman.
The Mourning House is part of an umbrella project called “Let The Bones Remember, Let The Body Believe It” a series of stories all surrounding living grief and love.
Karis is a Cheltenham-based mixed media creative whose work is rooted in mythic storytelling. Through sound, written word and movement, explores memory, inheritance and intergenerational survival examining how the choices of those who came before us continue to reverberate through body and soul.

Marianne (Working title) by Nathalie Codsi
Nathalie is a theatre maker of Lebanese/Armenian and Italian heritage. This work in progress focuses on a non-linear journey that investigates intergenerational trauma, exploring these lasting effects and what is passed down through family generations. Includes live sound, clowning, movement, text and… some dancing.
Created by Nathalie Codsi, with live sound from Simon Roth and dramaturgy by Jenny Davies.
Nathalie is a theatre artist working across stage, film and television. She is primarily a deviser specialising in physical and ensemble-based theatre. Nathalie trained at Le Coq in Paris and co-founded theatre company Spilt Ink.
