The gist

We’re looking for friendly, enthusiastic people to join our Front of House team.

If you enjoy meeting new people, thrive in busy environments, and want to help create bangin’ experiences for our audiences, we’d love to hear from you.

As an Event Steward, you’ll be one of the first people audiences meet when they arrive at a Strike A Light event. You’ll help create a welcoming atmosphere, support people to find their way around, and play an important role in making sure everyone has a safe, enjoyable and memorable experience.

THE BRIEF

You’ll be the welcoming face of Strike A Light, helping audiences feel comfortable, informed and supported throughout our events.

Working across dance, theatre and outdoor performance events, you’ll be part of the team that keeps everything running smoothly. From greeting audiences and answering questions to helping manage busy spaces, you’ll play a key role in delivering a brilliant experience for our audiences.

About you

Essential

  • Friendly, confident and approachable communicator
  • A proactive and caring approach to audience experience
  • Committed to inclusivity and accessibility
  • Calm and practical when things get busy
  • Reliable and punctual across multiple event days
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Aged 18+

Desirable

  • Experience in a public facing role
  • Experience working at festivals, events or outdoor performances
  • First Aid qualification
  • Knowledge of health and safety procedures

Key Responsibilities

Audience experience:

  • Welcome and direct audiences to performance spaces, seating and facilities
  • Check tickets and assist with access requirements
  • Manage latecomers during performances sensitively
  • Handle general visitor enquiries
  • Support audiences with accessibility and mobility needs

Safety & operations:

  • Set up – tables, chairs, flyers, box office, reserve signs etc
  • Monitor venue and public event areas during performances
  • Carry out pre-show checks in your designated zone
  • Follow fire and emergency evacuation procedures
  • Report incidents and complete logs accurately
  • Liaise with Senior Producer and Production Manager
  • Evaluation distribution and gathering
  • Collecting donations – donation bucket or car reader
  • Handing out food and drink
  • Putting up signage – triggers warnings, QR codes, do not enter etc

Fee & hours

  • This is a freelance role (for people aged 18+) with ad hoc hours throughout the year
  • Successful applicants will be added to our Front of House pool and contacted when opportunities become available
  • Next event dates: 10 July and 14 – 16 August 2026
  • Fee: £12.71 per hour / £120 per day
