O'Driscoll Collective
'Something Outta Nothing' is a scratch outdoor performance piece grounded in the dance form of Breakin' and immersive audio technology. Exploring movement which is framed in simplicity, contract, culture and heritage. An attempt to reflect the 'now', in a way that you may have never seen Breakin before.
"The world isn't black and white but just different shades of grey"
This work will be presented by O'Driscoll Collective and created through the eye of movement artist Jamaal O'Driscoll.
Supported by 101 Arts & Strike A Light.
Stacked Wonky
' 4 minutes' In open space, each boy brings a chair and table to set up a place from which to testify side by side. They wait and watch, drawing an audience.
A large digital clock set to 4 minutes switches on. Once the countdown starts, the boys use everything at their disposal (gesture, highly physical movement, the chairs/tables, each other) to urgently convey the monotony, irrationality and brilliance of young life, ultimately exploding into space.
They say the duet is "raw, physically risky, delicate, like a radio that refuses to be tuned to one station". We say it requires genuine courage to be seen.
ConTakt Circus
'Foley' is a thrilling contemporary circus show for all ages, brought to you by Collective ConTakt. Foley explores the highs and lows of togetherness, with exquisite live music, performed by a musician and five acrobats. Foley is full of surprises, touching on themes of vulnerability and trust with light-hearted, playful silliness. Their tall, human towers and high throws will take your breath away!
This south-west tour of Foley is brought to you via Circus Around And About 2.
Future Dance Fest will happen on Saturday 6th July, between 12.30pm and 5pm.
