Binaural Dinner Date

🗓 Wednesday 23rd October, 6/7:30/9pm
📍 Dr Fosters, GL1 2ES
🎟 Tickets £12/£7

Following sold-out London performances, ZU-UK are bringing interactive performance Binaural Dinner Date to Gloucester. Come and #BeTheDate

Across the table, within arms reach is another human being. Is this the one? How manyquestions need to be asked before you feel like you are getting to know each other?

With a waiter that Waits and a Chef to guide you what’s the worst that could happen?

Part interactive performance, part dating agency, Binaural Dinner Date invites genuine applications from individuals looking for love, or existing couples who simply want a very different dating experience.

Come with your own date, or we can find one for you.

WARNING_1: Do not come if you are fundamentally opposed to falling in love.

WARNING_2: ZU-UK’s shows usually sell out weeks before opening. So, book early to avoid disappointment!

DISCLAIMER: Although every effort will be made to match you to someone else based on your preference, there is a possibility we won’t be able to offer everyone their ideal choice of date. Although rare occurrences, we can’t be responsible for ‘no shows’ and last minute cancellations.

Thursday 31 October | 1pm & 4pm
Chapter House, Gloucester Cathedral

Tickets: £12/£7/£5

https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/strike-a-light/e-rebodd

Inspired by our night sky, Stella, is a brand new piece of theatre for children aged 3+ and their families.

The story of The Man in the Moon is a familiar one, but what if it wasn’t an old man all the way up there, but a young woman? What if this solitary young woman had a job, a very important one?

For years Stella has been very busy looking after our world from afar, organising tides, shining lights, and listening to wishes made on stars.

But down on Earth things are changing and people are no longer looking up. There is per- petual light and the night sky is under threat. The Moon is getting weaker, the stars are burning out, the tides are changing, and the Earth is beginning to spin faster and faster.

Stella is an original story about a young woman’s quest to reclaim the night, to keep the stars shining bright and to save her home.

Using projection, clowning and aerial circus, we want to talk about our sky. We’ll explore how light pollution means that Stella no longer hears our stories and how sometimes it is important to turn out the lights and wish upon a star.

‘Remember to look up at the stars and not down at your feet’ – Stephen Hawking

Louder Is Not Always Clearer

🗓 Thursday, November 14th, 7:30 – 9 :00
📍 Gloucester Guildhall, GL1 1NS
🎟 Tickets £12/£7

By Mr & Mrs Clark

Jonny is a teacher, a workshop leader and an avid football fan. He’s an artist, a campaigner and he’s just become a father. He is also deaf. He loves to dance, but he can’t hear the music unless the bass is turned right up.

Jonny was born deaf and grew up in a hearing family, surrounded by hearing friends who did not use the word deaf. In fact, some of those people didn’t know Jonny was deaf until they saw this show.

Louder is Not Alway Clearer is about the importance of connecting with others and how hard it can be to do so. It’s the story of one man, who despite appearing to be sociable and confident is also vulnerable and at times isolated. It’s the very human story of trying to fit into a world when you don’t quite match the mould. In a hearing world, Jonny is different and Louder Is Not Always Clearer highlights those differences in a warm and humorous way.

Using projection and mime, dance and drawing along with Johnny’s natural charm and humour this show brings the audience together, gets them on their feet and has them singing and sign-ing along in no time.

The show is accessible to D/deaf, hard of hearing and hearing audiences through the use of spoken English, British Sign Language and creative captions.

The Money

🗓 Thursday 21st November
📍 The Chapter House Room, Gloucester Cathedral, GL1 2LX
🎟 Tickets – Player: £10 (limited to 15 players)
Silent Witness: £12/£7

A Kaleider Production
Conceived and Directed by Seth Honnor

https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/strike-a-light/t-doakpp

How To Play

Become a Player by donating to the pot. Work with other Players to decide what to spend the group’s money on. You have 1 hour to come to a decision. If you decide unanimously in the allotted time you get to take the money away and spend it. But if you don’t agree with your fellow players you relinquish your privilege to spend the money and the money rolls over to the next show.

If you’re the quiet observing type you can become a Silent Witness and watch as the group of Players attempt to decide how to spend the money they’ve donated. And if you want to voice your opinion you can always become a Player by buying your way in.

Spend the money on whatever you want. Be as creative as you like. Just keep within the law.
